Youth Outreach Programs

Barrington Youth and Family Services (BYFS) offers outreach programs to the Barrington area communities. The Youth Outreach Programs encompass a wide reange of activities for middle school childres and their families. Developing the proper social skills is an important part of being a youth. BYFS works with students to confront the issues that children face during adolescence. Youth Outreach objectses address the following needs among Barrington middle school youth:

-Improve overall academic standing in homework, study skills and participation.

-Improve social skills, good character and values in situations involving relations with peers.

-Improve student-teacher communication, demonstrated by better interaction with group and school officials.

-Alleviate the symptoms of stress that come with improved communication and higher level of functioning skills.

-Educate the students on drug and alcohol use in teens and the reduction of substance abuse experimentation and use.



Fantastic Ride


The middle school outreach program is in full swing, beginning with the newly developed Fantastic Ride Program. This program is designed to help students appreciate differences as they learn to work together.


Sports Connection


Peer Leadership Group

This group is composed of teacher-nominated eighth graders. These students take responsibility for fundraising their own activities, most of which are community service oriented. The purpose of this program is to encourage them to take pride and become more active in their community.
